Kano plays the tonkori\, a five-stringed harp-like instrument native to the Ainu\, continuing his journey to bring this traditional instrument into new contexts and new audiences.  \nCo-presented with Japan Society\, New York.

Artistic Director Peter Askim leads the string orchestra in world premieres by Iranian-American Niloufar Nourbakhsh\, Festival alumna Adeliia Faizullina (Uzbekistan)\, and Wang Lu (China)\, alongside timely works by acclaimed composers Clarice Assad (Brazil) and Aleksandra Vrebalov (Serbia). The centerpiece is a newly commissioned double concerto for cello\, percussion\, and strings by the Spanish-born Casarrubios\, which she will perform as soloist alongside the festival fellows. \nThe Next Festival of Emerging Artists is a trailblazing arts immersion program for early-career string musicians and composers from around the world\, providing them opportunities for mentorship\, performance\, and multidisciplinary collaboration. DESCRIPTION:This is the inaugural Tim Feldmann Ashtanga Yoga Retreat in the Hudson Valley\, NY. Taking place in May 2026 we’ll offer a 6-Day Retreat: featuring asana workshops\, pranayama practices and sutra study. Among sheep fields\, farmer’s markets and rolling hills\, we’ll find ourselves in a place of study\, contemplation and practice. Whether you are new to the practice of Ashtanga or a seasoned practitioner\, you are most welcome to join us in this special event.  \nFrom Saturday\, May 23\, 2026 until Thursday\, May 28th\, Tim will guide us through mysore practices\, where students self-practice their Ashtanga sequence. On Sunday and Tuesday\, we’ll have workshops focusing on asana and alignment\, the backbone of a rooted practice. The last day will include a led practice as well as a conference\, a chance to inquire more deeply into the nuances of a life-long yoga practice. Pranayama practices will be taught prior to the asana practice and we invite everyone to join us on a social gathering Monday\, as we wander along dirt roads and contemplate how to embody the practice off the yoga mat.

DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the Celtic fire festival and welcome the season’s growth!\nAs the Earth and the Wheel of the Year spins again\, Beltane comes around to be welcomed and celebrated with our community. Beltane is a celebration of fertility\, fires\, and flowers in bloom. This time of year is celebrated the world over\, but the roots of Beltane started in Gaelic traditions.  \nJoin Shamanic Practitioner Johannah Hunter in gathering around a fire and creating May Sticks together. We will decorate branches with ribbons\, feathers\, shells and other natural objects. Feel free to bring anything from the Earth that calls to you that you would like to have on your May Stick. As the May Stick is being created\, prayers will be spoken into it as it comes together. It will be taken home to be used as a home and/or land blessing.  \nWe will charge our May Sticks around the fire using the power of vibration with songs\, sharing our hearts and our voices.  \nInfuse the ceremony with deeper intention through a post-ceremony 1hr sauna ritual. \nMay 1\, 5:30pm\n$50 per adult for ceremony plus sauna integration\n$35 per adult for ceremony only\n$5 per child (pay when you arrive) for ceremony only. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Due to limited space\, children cannot attend sauna portion of the ceremony.
