Built on the former railbed of the New York Central Railroad, the Harlem Valley Rail Trail (HVRT) preserves a linear corridor for public recreation and alternative transportation. Currently spanning 26 miles, the trail will extend to 46 miles upon completion, stretching from Wassaic to Chatham, New York. The Harlem Valley Rail Trail Association (HVRTA) collaborates with New York State Parks to support the trail’s ongoing development.
