In a show entitled "Troy, New York: A Tarnished City Alive Again,” Susan Anthony shows photographs of the story of Troy’s history through early prosperity to decay to rebirth at the Chatham Bookstore. Opening reception is on Friday, June 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibit runs through August 6. Because of its proximity to the Hudson River, Mohawk River, and Erie Canal, Troy was one of the most prosperous cities in the U.S. during the Industrial Revolution. But…

A joyful performance by the world’s leading Klezmer fiddler Alicia Svigals with accordionist Lauren Brody and double bassist Brian Glassman celebrates the opening of PS21’s 12th Season under the Tent. Svigals is a founder of the Grammy-winning Klezmatics and has written for Itzhak Perlman, the Kronos Quartet, and playwright Tony Kushner among others.

Stones and Stories Workshop

A musical and dramatic presentation, with pianist Lincoln Mayorga performing Chopin's Twenty-six Preludes and illuminated by the correspondence and diaries of the composer and his lover, George Sand, during their stay on the island of Majorca. Actors Nancy Rothman and Martin Anderson read Chopin and George Sand’s letters. Lincoln Mayorga is a brilliant pianist, arranger, producer, and composer.

For twelve consecutive years, PS/21: Performance Spaces for the 21st Century has offered free weekly screenings of music and dance-based films. “Dishwasher Dreams”

In his one-man show “Dishwasher Dreams,” actor and writer Aladdin Ullah draws on the story of his father a steamship worker from East Bengal, who jumped ship and made his way to New York’s Lower East Side in the 1920s, settled in Harlem in the 1930s, and worked for years as a dishwasher and line-cook.
